Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The investors of Kuwait, Middle East, have expressed interest in managing Marak Island, one of exotic islands in the Integrated Marine Tourism Area (KWBT) of Mandeh in South Pesisir District, West Sumatra.
South Pesisir Regent Hendrajoni in Painan on Wednesday said about four months ago, he accompanied the Kuwait investors' representatives to visit Marak Island, and they immediately expressed their interest.
Following up the visit, he will soon come to Kuwait in order to meet the invited investor.
During the visit, he said, there will sign a memorandum of understanding on the management of the island.
He explained if the plan of investor from Kuwait is realized, it will be the starting point for other domestic and foreign investors to manage Mandeh Area.
In addition to the island of Marak, there are several other islands in Mandeh Regions that can be managed by investors including Bintagor Island with an area of 37 hectares, Pagang Island 32 hectares, and Snake Island one hectare.
Cubadak Island 705 hectares, Taraju Island three hectares, one hectare island of Satan, Sironjong Kaciak island three hectares and Sironjong Gadang Island 25 hectares. (cha)
