Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno hopes that the International Conference on Business Research and Management in Padang will result in a solution to promote the economy and enhance regional competitiveness within ASEAN Economic Community.

"The solution is expected to spur regional potentials in improving the competitiveness of products with market-desired standards," he said in Padang on Wednesday.

He mentioned it in The 11TH International Conference On Business And Management Research (ICBMR): De-globalization Challenges For Emerging Countries in Padang.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) of West Sumatra has been good enough. But to compete in the ASEAN market, it is necessary to improve the quality of products and packing.

Creativity such as rendang culinary processing which begins by rendang of meat, then developed into rendang of lokan, egg rendang, rendang of lung and various other rendang combined, need to be done.

Likewise with the digitization of product promotion through the internet must be developed, in order to reach more broadly.

However, it is the result of an evaluation conducted by the region and may still be many other shortcomings that have not been detected, but detected by the conference participants.

The International Conference on Business and Management Research or ICBMR is the 11th one held. The conference presents two speakers namely Prof.DR. Iftekhar Hasan and Associate Prof.DR. Rubi Ahmad.

The event is organized by the Center for Management Research, Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, with the motivation to provide an international platform for academics, researchers and novice students to share their research findings and to find international links for future collaboration.

The international conference was attended by various countries including Australia, Malaysia, China, Britain, America and Thailand. (cha)
