Pariaman (ANTARA) - Two villages in Pariaman City, West Sumatra, namely Sikabu Village in South Pariaman and Cubadak Mentawai Village in East Pariaman District have become Kampung Tangguh Nusantara Villages (resilient village) to face COVID-19 pandemic.
"We hope that all villages and sub-districts in Pariaman will also become Kampung Tangguh Nusantara," said Deputy Mayor of Pariaman City, Mardison Mahyuddin at the launch of Kampung Tangguh Nusantara "Tagok" Cubadak Mentawai Village in Pariaman, Monday.
He mentioned that the two villages in Pariaman that had declared the National Tangguh Village had their own ideas and innovations that were worthy of being followed by other villages in Pariaman.
The innovation is the eradication of drugs from Sikabu Village while Cubadak Mentawai Village is the elimination of gambling.
According to him, drugs and gambling are currently become an aspect that disturbs the health and order of social life so that they must be eradicated.
He added that Kampung Tangguh Nusantara is one of excellent programs of the central government in dealing with the spread of COVID-19.
To succeed the goal of establishing this program, he continued, the role of the community is needed, starting from maintaining health, cleanliness, and providing isolation places.
He mentioned that many parties have been exposed to the virus, from mayors, regents, a number of other officials, and civilians.
Pariaman Police Chief, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Deny Rendra Laksmana said that at least in the Pariaman Police jurisdiction there are three Kampung Tangguh Nusantara.
He said there are four aspects of a region being designated as a resilient village, such as resilience in the health, social, food and security sectors.
Then, the village must also have a number of facilities ranging from security posts, health checks, and isolation areas.
"Its application is continuously evaluated and there are periodic reports on developments," he said.
