Padang (ANTARA) - The government of Padang has officially closed two tourism objects in the area, namely Air Manis Beach and Gunung Padang from March 20 to April 2, 2020, to anticipate the spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).
"The closure was done as an anticipation to avoid the spread of corona, the traders and tourists are hope can accepted this regulation," said Head of the Padang City Tourism Office Arfian in Padang, Friday.
Meanwhile, for Padang Beach because access is a public road, it is difficult to close.
However, he continued to urge traders to prioritize health such as providing liquid sanitation.
Air Manis Beach is one of the many tourist destinations visited by visitors, especially on holidays.
During the 2019 Eid holiday the number of visitors reaches more 5,000 in one day.
One of the things that makes this beach interesting is the Malin Kundang stone, as a symbol of the legendary story of Malin Kundang which was condemned to be a stone and is widely known by the people in Indonesia.
While Gunung Padang is a tourist area in the form of a hill located near Padang Beach with a height of about 80 meters above sea level.
Gunung Padang has a combination of beautiful panorama and the love story of Siti Nurbaya who was forced to marry Datuak Maringgih.
