Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City, W Sumatra, will build a floating dock on Sungai Pisang, Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict, to support tourism activities towards the islands around the area.
"The interest of tourists to visit the islands in the waters of Padang City continues to increase, it encourages the development of tourist boat rental services," said Head of Local Development Planning Agency ( Bappeda) of Padang City, Medi Iswandi in Padang on Tuesday.
To facilitate access to the island, the construction of the floating dock will begin this year with funding coming from the Padang City Regional Budget of Rp. 2.6 billion.
"The location of the development is centered on Teluk Sungai Pisang," he said.
According to Medi, the need for a floating dock to support tourism transportation facilities in the region is important because the location is the closest point for access to the islands in the waters of Bungus and its surroundings.
