Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Mentawai Islands District, West Sumatra targets the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of tourism in the area to absorb 10,000 workers.
"There are 2,600 hectares of SEZ area that will be built various industrial businesses to support tourism, including hotels, airports, playgrounds, other food and beverage business that would require a lot of manpower. Our target is translucent 10,000 laborss," Regent of Mentawai Islands, Judas Sabaggalet explained in Padang, Saturday.
He explained, in supporting labor absorption for SEZ, it has so far implemented several ready-made work programs, including educating Mentawai sons and daughters related to tourism discipline.
"Currently there are 600 people who enter several universities in Java," he pointed out.
The objective of the program aims to enable Mentawai communities and children to compete with other workers and have expertise in reliable tourism science.
Yudas said, Mentawai tourism SEZ in general provides a broad impact for the Province of West Sumatra, both from the level of tourist visits and labor absorption widely.
"Surely not all workers come from Mentawai, there must also be added from other regions," he added.
Furthermore, Yudas revealed that Mentawai tourism SEZ targets the level of foreign and local tourist visits to 300 thousand people per year. (cha)
