Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Andalas University in Padang, West Sumatra plans to build a science techno park in 2018.

"In some ways the university is ready to build a science techno park. We are preparing the institution and infrastructure," Head of Research and Community Service Center at the Andalas University, Uyung Gatot S Dinata, said here, Thursday (Sept 14).

He added that the university already has their researchers, land, research products, branded products and plan to build the science techno park.

In fact, science techno park has been implemented by 15 faculties at the university, although they are still separated.

Uyung explained that science techno park is a center of research and development, and commercialization for products generated from the researches, which means integrating academic, government and industry.

According to him, the science techno park building will have six floors for laboratory, cooperation partners rooms, seminar rooms, collection and exhibition hall and administration office.

Andalas University's  science techno park will be the ninth facility across the nation.

Earlier, science techno parks have been established at Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) in Bogor, West Java, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in Bandung, West Java, and Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. (*)
