Painan (ANTARA) - The One-Stop Office of Integrated Investment and License Services of Pesisir Selatan Regency, W Sumatra confirmed the wooden shipyard at Pasar Gompong Village, Lengayang Subdistrict, the local area is illegal.

"The activity is illegal, because no one has ever make permit to our place," said the Head of the One-Stop Office of Integrated Investment and License Services of Pesisir Selatan,Suardi in Painan on Wednesday.

He said they should have several documents before running the business, ranging from business permits, certificates of origin of wood issued by relevant agencies and others.

"We from the Licensing Service are ready to serve in issuing the required permits, but because there are no requests, of course there is no processing," he added.

Regarding illegal activities, he said that in the local district there is the Civil Service Police Unit as enforcement agency of regional regulation.

Previously, Head of Forest Management Unit of the Pesisir Selatan, Madrianto suspected that the activities of wooden shipbuilding in the shipyard were using illegal wood.

Head of the Pesisir Selatan Fisheries Service Andi Syafinal said that he did not know there was shipbuilding activities there, and he ensured that the activity did not have a permit.

One of the shipbuilders in the shipyard, "DR" claimed to have been carrying out his activities for the past six years, he made ships with sizes ranging from five to 20 gross tonnages.

The need for wood per ship depends on size, can be seven to 15 cubic with a variety of types ranging from Merantih and other wood.

Making one ship can be finished with the fastest time of four months, and depend on its size.

At present there are eight ships is working with various sizes, each day there are three groups of carpenters working, each group having two to four workers.
