Padang Aro (ANTARA) - Government of Solok Selatan has urged partners and Settlement Infrastructure Centers of the W Sumatra Region to accelerate the revitalization of the Saribu Rumah Gadang area because until April 2020 there has not been a single 'Rumah Gadang' ( (Minangkabau traditional big house) that has been revitalized.

"We, together with Wali Nagari and Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN) (public figure), have tried to approach the Balai to urge the acceleration of revitalization but were rejected because of COVID -19," said Head of the Solok Selatan Tourism and Culture Office Harry Trisna in Padang Aro on Monday.

He and Wali Nagari (village head) came to the W Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center on March 19, 2020 but were refused.

After that, the Solok Selatan district government urged via WhatsApp message. The local government team has also monitored the field.

"We have also sent a letter to the W Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Office to accelerate revitalization through the Development Administration Section," he said.

He mentioned that for the revitalization of the ‘Rumah Gadang’, the highest progress was only 90 percent and there were only zero percent.

Meanwhile, for the obstacles in the field, he said there were no obstacles but, the supervision which was previously carried out by the W Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Agency was now handed over to the Construction Management Consultant (MK).

The tender process for the revitalization of the Saribu Rumah Gadang area in Solok Selatan Regency was won by PT Wisana Matrakarya at a price of Rp69.8 billion in November 2019.

The funds are used to revitalize 33 Rumah Gadang units plus other supporting buildings such as the tower of view, the stages including the road.

Head of the W Sumatra Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center Syafriyanti Randal said that it was not only the revitalization of Saribu Rumah Gadang in Solok Selatan that was late but almost all the project packages due to COVID-19.

"Because of COVID-19 plus there was a landslide some time ago making the material unable to enter so that the progress was slow," she said.

Whereas the number of workers is indeed limited and they should comply the COVID-19 protocol.

She explained that she would review the process of revitalization of Rumah Gadang whether it would be extended or not because the spread of COVID-19.
