Padang (ANTARA) - PT. KAI West Sumatra Regional Division II canceled several train trips to reduce the impact of the spread of Covid-19 and reduce community mobility.
"The adjustment and cancellation of the train schedule starting April 1, 2020, this is in accordance with government policy, where people are asked to reduce mobility out of the house," said Head of West Sumatra Divre II Public Relations, M. Reza Fahlepi in Padang, Monday.
He mentioned, the train that had been canceled and adjusted the schedule was the Minangkabau Express railroad relations of Padang - Minangkabau International Airport with previously scheduled was 06.30 A.M. - 20.30 P.M. to 06.30 A.M. - 17.49 P.M..
While the Sibinuang train to Naras, which was previously scheduled for 07.00 A.M. transferred at 05.45 A.M., the frequency of the trip was not changed, It is still eight trips per day. Cancellation of the trains just on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays while on Monday - Friday, Sibinuang train trip is the same as the previous schedule.
"Although there have been some schedule reductions, PT KAI ensured that the distance between passengers on the train keep regulated by officers," he said.
He appealed for passengers to cancel tickets via online in the latest version of the KAI Access application. In addition, the cancellation process can also be done at the specified cancellation station counter, namely Padang Station and full refund.
"Previously, PT KAI Divre II's customer service and conductors on the train had already provided direct information to potential passengers affected on canceled schedules," he added.
This reduced trips schedule policy will continue to be evaluated in accordance with developments and the situation in the field, in line with efforts to prevent the spread of the Corona virus by PT KAI Divre II.
"Although there is a reduction in train schedules, KAI still provides the best service to passengers in accordance with the corona virus prevention protocol that has been applied," Reza concluded.
