Padang (ANTARA) - The West Sumatra Provincial Government has implemented a "selective restriction" policy, which is limiting access for people who are not healthy (indicated coronavirus) to enter the area to minimize the possibility of spreading COVID-19.

"Lockdown is a central authority that must be respected. We just do selective restrictions," said West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno in Padang on Sunday.

With the selective restriction policy, the medical team, the Satpol PP and the Indonesian National Police will conduct checks on the eight West Sumatra border gates. If the citizents is indicated of fever, a medical examination will be conducted at the nearest hospital and considered to be quarantined for two weeks.

Irwan said that the policy was taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the area. Only those who are healthy may go to West Sumatra, while those who are not healthy will be carry out monitoring, supervision and medical treatment.

"We urge immigrants to temporarily not return to their villages, especially those in pandemic areas. Let's protect your family together in the village," he said.
