Padang (ANTARA) - West Sumatra Deputy Governor Nasrul Abit hopes that the addition of a body temperature check device at the domestic arrival gate of the Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) can help anticipate the entry of a coronavirus (COVID-19) into the area.

"Start from Monday (3/16) we will place a thermal scanner and thermal gun not only at the door of international arrivals but also domestically to anticipate corona," he said in Padang on Tuesday.

Passengers whose body temperatures are detected to be above normal will be checked immediately. If a coronavirus is suspected, the medical team will immediately handle and bring them to the M.Djamil Hospital in Padang as a referral hospital in Padang.

In order to make the monitoring process more optimal, 16 local civil service units (Satpol PP) assisted the work of the Port Health Office (KKP) to measure the body temperature of passengers using a thermal gun.

"We hope that passengers who come down are willing to be checked," he said.

The tightened examination succeeded in detecting one passengers of Air Asia flight on the Kuala Lumpur-Padang route which was allegedly corona on Monday (3/16) morning. The passenger was rushed to M Djamil Padang General Hospital due to breathless and body temperature reached 36.6 degrees celsius.

Based on field report the passenger is 47-year-old from Kerinci Regency was detected when passing the Thermal Scanner in the international arrivals area.

After being interviewed by the Port Health Office (KKP) official, he admitted that he had been breathless for 3 days.

The Airport KKP directly handling in accordance on the protocol, the passenger was immediately isolated, interviewed and referred to RSUP M. Djamil Padang for further handling.

Meanwhile West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno stressed that until Monday (3/16) there had not been a single positive patient detected in the province.
