Padang Aro, (ANTARA) - A geological heritage in Solok Selatan Regency, W Sumatra, the Sapan Maluluang Geyser is ranked nationally because it has a water height of about one meter with a water temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius.

"Based on the identification of the geological heritage in Solok Selatan there are nine locations included in the geoheritage and only Sapan Maluluang geysers are ranked nationally," said Head of the Solok Selatan Tourism and Culture Office, Harry Trisna accompanied by the Head of the Sri Handayani Destination Division in Padang Aro , Monday.

He said, Solok Selatan proposed 27 locations to enter the geoheritage and after field verification by the geology team only nine entered the geoheritage.

The nine locations included in the geoheritage are Batuan Ultramafic Koto Parik Gadang Diateh, Aia Angek at Air Panas Koto Parik Gadang Diateh Complex, geyser Sapan Maluluang.

Furthermore, Goa Air Manyuruk, Air Terjun Tangsi Ampek , Goa Batu Kapal, Air Terjun Ulu Suliti, Bukit Cermin and Bontak volcanic lake.

The geology team verified the initial document proposal at 48 geological heritage sites dominated by the morphology of caves, waterfalls and lakes and visited 26 locations scattered in the districts of Pasaman Barat, Limapuluh Kota, Tanah Datar, Solok, and Solok Selatan.

The Geological Survey Center Team, the Geological Agency also conducted a general study of geological diversity and encountered several locations.

The result is as many as 38 geological heritage sites have been identified based on the proposed data and additional field verification results, where there are 33 locations ranked local and five locations ranked national .

To be determined as a geoheritage, Solok Selatan is still waiting for the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
