Parit Malintang (ANTARA) - The Government of Nagari Sikucur Utara, District V of Koto Kampung Dalam, Padang Pariaman Regency, W Sumatra developed the tourism object of Duo Bidadari waterfall in order to exploit the potential of the region to improve the economy of local residents.
"Access to the location has been opened some time ago by District Military Command and they also built toilets and posts," Wali Nagari Sikucur Utara, Mayunis Alima said at V Koto Kampung Dalam on Sunday.
He said since the access road was opened, tourist visits on weekends could reach 200 people per day so that it has the potential to be developed. Therefore, this year a ladder will be built on the steep road.
He said that he would build a selfie booth and a bathing pool so that it could accommodate tourists and also would be built zip bike with waterfall background.
According to him, the waterfall will be visited by many tourists because the water from the mountains and protected forests so that it is still clean and cool.
He explained the naming of the Duo Bidadari waterfall because in the tourist attraction there were two adjacent waterfalls while the naming of the Bidadari (angel) was due to the local people's belief that the location was once a bidadari bathing place.
To manage the tourist attraction, a tourism awareness group has been formed, whose task has been notified by Department of Tourism, Youth and Sport of Padang Pariaman District some time ago.
Meanwhile, Member of the Padang Pariaman District Legislative Council, Dedi Salim said that he had encouraged related agencies to prioritize the construction of access roads to tourist attractions in order to increase the income of local residents.
He mentioned that in the regency there are many potential tourism objects to be developed ranging from beaches, scenery, baths, to a number of waterfalls.
