Padang (ANTARA) - The government of Padang City, W Sumatra is designing a disaster application that can be accessed through a smartphone as a notification and an early warning of disasters for citizens.
"The simple application is expected to be accessible by the public to improve the readiness of information technology-based," said Head of Department of Communication and Informatics of Padang, Rudy Rinaldi. in Padang, Monday.
He gave the current example to notice the maximum limit on the range of tsunami waves in Padang has been installed a line that reads tsunami survivor zone at a number of road.
"So if there is an earthquake and tsunami the citizens simply evacuate until the blue line of the boundary," he said.
He hopes that with a simple application can help inform residents of the tsunami's safe coverage.
"So that citizens do not have to worry and panic and know where the location is fitting to save themselves," he said.
The creation of the application is in line with the results of a rapid review of the Ombudsman representatives of W Sumatra who found there is no operational standard procedure information Services and management of complaints related to earthquake and tsunami in the area.
According to him, W Sumatera is an area with the threat of potential earthquake and tsunami and there are seven districts along the Sumatran coast that has a high insecurity.
Therefore, the mitigation of earthquake and tsunami disaster is important to be fulfilled and information services and complaints should be the reference of service in the field of disaster, he said.
He explained based on the results of rapid studies on information services and disaster management in five districts and cities need some improvement.
For the city of Padang already have a data evacuation route and quite a lot compared to other areas but need to be done verification by collecting the input from the community, he said.
In addition, the evacuation route in Padang has not been accessed by a disability, he said.
In connection with the evacuation site while the Ombudsman finds in Padang it takes 140 buildings but currently there are four buildings and there are 70 buildings that could be a temporary evacuation site but need structural test.
For the management of complaints public service, Ombudsman found in Padang means complaint in Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Padang already published but the flow and mechanism is not listed.
Ombudsman recommends that there is a SOP to arrange information services and complaints management as an effort to prevent and improve the quality of service in the field of disaster to the community.
