Pariaman (ANTARA) - The Government of Pariaman, W Sumatra obtained funds of Rp8.3 billion from the central government to build the waterfront city in Pauh Village, Central Pariaman District to increase tourism attractiveness in the area.
"At the moment we are focusing on building Pariaman City as a waterfront city which is one of the locations in Pauh Village," Genius Umar said in Pariaman on Monday.
He said the construction had been going on since a few months ago, and was targeted for completion by mid-December 2019.
The waterfront city concept developed in Pariaman is the construction of jogging tracks and bicycles, so that residents and tourists can enjoy the beauty of the city and the natural settings of the area while exercising.
"Hopefully the development of the waterfront city in the City of Pariaman will be inaugurated by the president during the commemoration of the National Archipelago Day which will be held in Pariaman on December 13," he said.
In addition, he also hopes that Pariaman will also become a national pilot for the development of a waterfront city along with the incessant development carried out by his side.
Previously, the City Government of Pariaman requested the help of the central government to build a waterfront city in order to increase the attractiveness of tourism in the area.
"Some time ago I asked the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing directly to be able to help realize a waterfront city," said Mayor of Pariaman Genius Umar in Pariaman, on Wednesday (3/4).
Minister Basuki Hadimuljono promised this year that he would help the construction of a "waterfront city" in Pariaman.
He mentioned the location of the river that will be used as a waterfront city location in the area, starting from Muaro Pariaman and then proceeding towards Kampung Baru and the Pauh area.
