Painan (ANTARA) - The Government of Pesisir Selatan Regency, W Sumatra is considering holding a Tour de Mandeh (TdM) race after being a successful finish and starting the 2019 Tour de Singkarak (TdS) race stage VIII and IX.
"The implementation of the TdM is still being considered, however we are sure the race has a significant impact on the popularity level of the Mandeh Integrated Marine Tourism Area (KWBT)," said Regional Secretary of the Pesisir Selatan District, Erizon in Painan, on Tuesday.
He added the idea of organizing the TdM was born from one of the TdS committees, having previously seen the seriousness of the Pesisir Selatan Regency Government preparing various things in an effort to make the race successful.
In addition, he said, another consideration is the high public interest in watching and encouraging all racers.
"Moreover, the beauty of Mandeh which will be the main attraction in the event," he said.
In TdS 2019 almost all sub-districts in the local area were passed by racers except Lunang, Silaut and Nagari Bayang Utara sub-districts.
Previously at the same event racers only passed District IV Jurai, Bayang and Tarusan. It did not pass through the Mandeh area because the road there was not enough to pass.
With the passing of racers in the Mandeh region this year, they were treated to beautiful marine tourism sights ranging from calm waters to beautiful islands.
And no less important in the Mandeh area there are challenging bends, as well as derivatives and climbs that will test the proficiency of racers.
