Padang (ANTARA) - West Sumatra's local team, Bank Nagari's Padang Road Bike (PRB) showed off in the 2019 Tour de Singkarak by occupying the position of the two best Indonesian teams until stage IV.
"The driver's rigorous training over the past six months has shown positive results, exceeding expectations," the team's responsible person, Iqbal Ramadi Payana, said in Padang on Tuesday.
He said the target for the local team to join the 2019 Tour de Singkarak was only to enter the three best national teams. It turns out that until Stage IV, the team managed to poke up to second position.
Bank Nagari PRB Team recorded a time of 41:09:00. Note that time only lost 1 minute 45 seconds from the best Indonesian team that is still held by the PGN Road Cycling Team with a record time of 41:07:15.
Bank Nagari's PRB time record is quite far from the third best team, Banyuwangi Road Cycling Comunity with a total time to stage IV, 41:15:34.
"We hope this positive result can survive until the end of Stage IX so that it can make the name of the region proud," Iqbal said.
Even more proud, according to him, is the Idris team coach and W Sumatra residents who started the race in West Java. One of the six PRB riders is also athlete from W Sumatra, Ahmad Hanif Jambak.
He became the first racer from W Sumatra that survive in the four stages of the Tour de Singkarak (TDS) since the participation of the PRB.
Before participating in the international bicycle race, six riders of Bank Nagari's PRB were practicing seriously under the direction of the coach, Idris. Every day for the past six months they have covered 250 kilometers. This is to anticipate four long stages of more than 200 kilometers this year.
