Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - The Government of the City of Padang Panjang, W Sumatra together with the local Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (Pordasi) held a horse race that has been vacuum for four years.
This event will be held on 27 and 28 October 2019 and can be watched by the public for free.
Padang Mayor Fadly Amran in Padang Panjang on Thursday Oct 24, afternoon said preparations for horse race had reached 90 percent.
"After a four-year vacuum, we present this event again to revive the appeal of this event in Padang Panjang," he said.
He said to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere at the event, he had requested security from Indonesian National Military (TNI) and Indonesian National Police.
The event will be attended by participants from W Sumatra, East Java, Aceh and North Sumatra.
There are 53 horses, consisting of 23 races with a total prize of Rp242 million.
"The first day there are 11 races and 12 races on the second day. The public can watch it for free, "he said.
The classes that will be contested include general classes, prestigious derby classes, teenagers at a distance of 1,200 meters, "sagalo" classes for local horses with a distance of 600 meters and others. (*)
