Solok Selatan trains tour guides and managers

Padang Aro (ANTARA) - The Government of Solok Selatan Regency, W Sumatra train guides and managers of tourist destinations to improve their abilities so they can increase tourist visits to the area.

Head of Solok Selatan Tourism and Culture Office of the Destinations Division, Soni Andesta, in Padang Aro, on Wednesday, said that this year there were six trainings and tour managers to improve their abilities.

"This training is to improve human resources in terms of scouting and managing tourist destinations so that tourist visits can increase," he said.

The budget for the training of guides and managers of these tourist destinations comes from the 2019 Special Allocation Fund (DAK) of Rp. 698 million.

He mentioned, from the six times training, five of them had been carried out.

The training that has been carried out is destination management, artificial village guides, historical and cultural tour guides, culinary tour guides and homstay management.

According to him, every tourist who visits will definitely look for regional cuisine and therefore, culinary guide training need to do.

In addition, he said, every tourist destination must have culinary and managers are demanded to be more creative such as make attractive packaging so that tourists are interested to buy.

"We encourage people, especially around tourist destinations, to make regional cuisine such as ' pangek pisang' which is only owned by Solok Selatan", he said.

If people sell regional cuisine, it will be an attraction for tourists to visit.

He added, one training package that had not yet been implemented was the nature tour guides namely rafting and geo-tourism.

This training will be held on Wednesday Okt 30, and this rafting tour is very potential to be developed because Solok Selatan has many rivers.
