The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Unand, Wirsma Arif Harahap in Padang, on Monday, said the international seminar was very good to support the development and improvement of the quality of Unand education, especially psychology study programs.
"The output of this activity will also be research sharing and will be able to collaborate in conducting research, student exchanges, and teaching staff that are useful in improving the quality and quality of education," he said.
He added, the activity was also a follow up of FK Unand's collaboration with several universities in W Sumatra, Indonesia and abroad.
The Chairperson of FK Unand's Psychology Study Program, Yantri Maputra said, the activity with the theme "1st International Conference on Psychology, Education, and Mental Health," (ICoPEM) also aims to strengthen cooperation with universities in Malaysia and in Indonesia.
"There are two speakers we invited from America, one from Britain and one from Malaysia, and one from IAIN Batusangkar" he said.
He added, the international seminar was also a means to support the Psychology Study Program to achieve accreditation A.
Meanwhile, Chair of ICoPEM 2019, Izzanil Hidayati, said that the international seminar was also aimed at giving birth to educational innovations and mental health.
"Later we will associate with the industrial era 4.0, how the industrial era can influence education and the application of more effective educational techniques," said Izzanil.
The foreign speakers invited to ICoPEM were Prof. Katherine Elizabeth Cain from Lancaster University United Kingdom, Seinenu M.Thein Lamelson, Ph.D and Robert Lemelson, Ph.D from the University of California, and Prof. Intermediate Dr. Mahazan Abdul Mutalib from the Malaysian Islamic Science University (USIM).
