US students admire the natural beauty of West Sumatra

Lubuk Basung (ANTARA) - Student from University of Washington in Seattle, United States, Katia Chaterji (30) admires the natural beauty of W Sumatra which has beaches, mountains, valleys, lakes and more.

"All the places that I have seen in W Sumatra have extraordinary natural environments, very unique and beautiful," she said when she saw the Silek ART Festival show at Rabaa Market, Tanjungraya District, on Saturday.

She said, for five months in W Sumatra she had visited the City of Padang, Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang, Solok, Tanahdatar, Solok Selatan and Agam.

The area has a diversity of tourist destinations that are quite beautiful and impressive.

She also said thar each district and city had different natural beauties, such as Padang City having beaches, Solok Selatan having beautiful nature, Agam having Lake Maninjau and others.

"The culture of the Minangkabau people is also quite good," said the student with the Southeast Asian History Department.

She added, she comes to Indonesia to conduct research on the history of art related to Islamic culture in Sumatra.

History in Sumatra is very important to be understood more deeply and it is quite interested.

In conducting the research, she collaborated with the Padang Panjang Institute of Indonesian Art (ISI).

The research was carried out for 10 months and has been done for five months.

"In the near future the research will be completed and I will return to the United States," she said.
