Padang Panjang Revive Islamic Symbols Through the Festival

Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - Festival Serambi Mekah is held by the Government of the City of Padang Panjang, W Sumatra and can be used as an option to fill this holiday weekend.

The event was held from 31 August to 2 September 2019 at the Bancah Laweh Square to welcome the 1441 Hijri New Year.

The Mayor of Padang Panjang, Fadly Amran, in Padang Panjang on Saturday, said the festival was held to revive Islamic symbols in the area nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca.

The series of events in the annual festival is also expected to increase tourist arrivals because it also coincides with weekend holidays.

He invited the people present to take the time to watch the activity to help promote it by uploading to social media a number of photographs taken from various angles of interesting taking.

Head of the Padang Panjang Tourism Office Hendri Fauzan explained that Festival Serambi Mekah will be filled with a series of Islamic activities and regional arts.

Students and a number of local and surrounding area studios were involved to fill the event.

On the first day, the events are boarding school performing arts, nasyid, school art performances, art studio performances and others.

"In addition to these performances we also present performances by local music groups and Minangkabau singers such as Kintani and Ajo Buset. We hope this dish will entertain the public, "he said.
