Indonesian Migrant Worker (TKI) exhibited their knitted products at the Padang Fair held by the Padang City Government in order to enliven the 74th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, and the 350th Anniversary of Padang City which was held at GOR H Agus Salim in Padang .
"This knitted product is the result of our own work which is guided by the Managing Person in charge of TKI (PJ TKI)," said one retired Sri Mulyani TKI in Padang on Wednesday.
She admits ever worked in Malaysia for five years, then after returning to Indonesia received skills training from PJTKI, one of which was in the form of knitting training.
"The goal is that Ex Indonesian migrant workers who have returned to Indonesia can open their own businesses," she continued.
After attending the training, she also joined a joint business group called the Joint Business Group Cinta Jasmine (Kube Cinta Jasmine).
The knitted products include hijab ornaments which are sold for Rp.10,000, hair ties for Rp.10,000, key chains for Rp30,000, shoes from Rp100,000 to Rp350 thousand.
"In addition, there are also 150,000 tissue box knits and knitted bags ranging from Rp50 thousand to Rp600 thousand, depending on the size and level of difficulty," she said.
According to her, making accessories does not require a long time, but if making bags takes one day.
She also said besides being sold in W Sumatra, the knitted products were also sold to several regions, namely to Jakarta and farthest away to Malaysia via online.
She hopes that the knitted products will grow and become more widely known by the general public so that they can improve the economy.
"I hope that many people are interested in developing creative businesses like this, so that the number of migrant workers working abroad is reduced," she said.
