Padang (ANTARA) - Five students from the Andalas University (Unand) Padang, created an application to facilitate the learning of the Minangkabau Culture for elementary school students named "Sibuyuang".

The five people were Pepi Putri Utami, Muhammad Fikri (Electrical Engineering), Agung Wibowo Ardiyanta Surbakti, Pratama Halim (Computer Systems), and Aulia Rahman (Minangkabau Literature) under the guidance of Dr. Eng Muhammad Ilhamdi Rusydi.

Pepi in Padang on Monday said "Si Buyuang" is an interesting Minangkabau Culture learning application, equipped with interactive videos, educational games and "Augmented Reality" (AR) technology.

"Augmented Reality" is a technology that combines two-dimensional and or three-dimensional virtual objects into a real three-dimensional environment and then projects these virtual objects in real time.

All material contained in the "Si Buyuang" learning media is adapted to the Minangkabau Culture subject curriculum and can be accessed openly through the http://www.sibuyuang.com/ page.

Currently the website contains learning media for 4th grade elementary school and will be further developed for other classes.

The application was tested in the Minangkabau Culture learning process at elementary school number 14 Pauh Padang with very satisfying results. The trial was conducted by comparing the learning process with conventional systems using applications.

The first stage the team and the teacher do the learning process as usual conventionally with the lecture method. After learning, the teacher gives a test related to the material. This test is carried out by hand signal method or hand pointing. The result is only 3-5 people who show their hands. Even then not all of those who appoint can answer correctly.

The next stage is the teaching and learning process using the "Si Buyuang" method. The final examination session is carried out with the same method. It turned out that the number of students who raised their hands to answer questions increased, namely 12-15 people from 22 people.

The Principal of Elementary School 14 Pauh, Padang Ruwaida, assessed that the application could increase students' interest in learning Minangkabau Culture up to 3 times the usual method.

He encouraged the application to continue to be developed by adding material from class III to class VI which studied Minangkabau Culture subjects.

Currently "Sibuyuang" as a learning media to help with Minangkabau Culture learning is currently in the registration process at Kemenkumham through Andalas University LPPM. The registration file has been entered on June 20, 2019. (*)
