Painan (ANTARA) - The regent of Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra, Hendrajoni, put the first stone for revitalizing two sub-district market units in the local area, Indrapura and Silaut markets, on Monday.
"Hopefully the new market building will have a positive impact on the community in two sub-districts," Hendrajoni said after the activity was accompanied by a number of local officials.
With revitalization, it hopes that the market will be cleaner and more organized and no longer muddy when the rainy season enters, so that buyers and sellers will not be disturbed by these conditions.
Market revitalization is a priority scale as an effort to improve the economy of the community and in the last three years it has built and revitalized a number of sub-district markets.
These markets include the Kambang market, Koto Barapak market, Batang Kapas market, Tapan market, Balai Salasa market and others.
He mentioned that revitalized and built markets were prioritized for small and medium-sized traders, so that their presence really had an impact on the middle to lower-income economies.
He said that the Indrapura market revitalization was budgeted at Rp1.7 billion and Silaut was budgeted at Rp1 billion. (*)
