Painan (ANTARA) - The government of Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra, will develop Portuguese-style tourism at Cingkuak Island, which is located in the tourist area of Carocok Painan Beach in an effort to attract tourists.

"The existence of a Portuguese fort in the island of Cingkuak was a good start for the development of all-Portuguese tourism," said Pesisir Selatan District Head Hendrajoni in Painan on Monday.

To pursuing the plan, first he will restore the Portuguese fort to make it look better. In line with the restoration, it also plans to build Portuguese-style buildings on location.

Furthermore, he will also provide Portuguese-style clothes for both women and men of all sizes.

With all Portuguese tours, in the future tourists who go to Cingkuak Island are not only limited to enjoying white sand and trying out various water games and others, but also can wear Portuguese-style clothes in the past.

And also can try out tourist ships that are made exactly the same as Portuguese ships, he added.

"With this breakthrough, we believe that the Pesisir Selatan will become a byword among tourists, and this of course will be in line with the increasing number of tourist visits," he said.

Cingkuak Island can be reached by a tourist boat for about 10 minutes, every day from the pier of Carocok Painan Beach there are always boats ready to serve tourists.

Usually in Cingkuak Island, tourists spend time playing water ranging from swimming, observing coral reefs and small fish, and trying out various water games such as speed boats and banana boats.

On the location there are shady trees and hundreds of coconut trees that make the atmosphere even more interesting. (*)
