Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - The Padang Panjang City Government, West Sumatra, is preparing a promotional step for the Islamic Center as a religious tourist destination and Islamic education through print and electronic media.

"With the promotion, it is hoped that not only the residents of Padang Panjang will know the Islamic Center but can be more broadly," said Deputy Mayor of Padang Panjang Asrul in Padang Panjang on Sunday.

If the 'Islamic Center' has known the community, that location will be the destination for worship, getting Islamic education and religious tourist destinations.

Promotional steps were taken after the Padang Panjang City Government visited the Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa on May 20 to 23, 2019, to find out the procedures and management of organizational structures that could be applied at the Islamic Center.

"The Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa is not only a place of worship but also an educational facility and a public tourist destination from inside and outside the region. The Islamic Center is also expected can develop like that, "he said.

During the visit, Asrul had the opportunity to fill the broadcast on the Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa Radio and convey an appeal that the community always enliven the mosque by doing prayers in congregation at the mosque.

He also used the live broadcast to promote 'Islamic Center' and invited the public to visit the mosque for religious tourism.

The 'Islamic Center' is located in Koto Katiak Sub-District and starts operations on February 2018. Its construction is expected to be an icon for Padang Panjang, nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca and supporting religious activities. *
