Padang (ANTARA) - The West Sumatra Tourism Office holds culinary exhibitions from 18 regencies and cities in the Province in the series of charms of Ramadhan 1440 Hijriah.
The head of the West Sumatra Tourism Office Oni Yulfian, in Padang on Sunday said the culinary exhibition was aimed to introduce the typical foods from each region.
"The food theme is not limited by the committee, they are free to bring any food, the important thing is the food comes from their area," he continued.
He also added that this activity was held for the first time by the West Sumatra tourism agency.
Because previously it was only in the form of recitation of laudation activity held on the night of Takbiran, but not as grand as this, he continued.
"After satisfied with this activity, the welcome from the community was enthusiastic," he continued.
He also hopes that this activity will become an annual activity for the West Sumatra Tourism Office.
In addition to culinary exhibitions, there are also several other supporting activities such as entertainment in the form of religious songs.
Then, the activity proceed with the announcement of the winners from several competitions held previously.
"Actually, this activity has the theme of Enchantment of Ramadhan which was held for three days on May 24 - 25, and the peak event was held on May 26," he said.
The activity aims to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan 1440 Hijriah and also raise the spirit of the community to build halal tourism, he said.
Because on May 24 the event was held in the form of fun talking with the theme of halal tourism.
The hope is that West Sumatra can be one of the selected tourist objects to be visited during the Eid holiday, he continued. *
