Mentawai residents get 2,000 staple food packages from ACT

Padang (ANTARA) - Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) or Fast Action Response is humanitarian institutions, prepared 2,000 food and clothing packages to be donated to residents in the Mentawai Islands Regency.

"We still collect the donations and hope the target of 2,000 packages for Mentawai can be achieved," said Head of ACT, W. Sumatra, Zeng Wellf in Padang on Wednesday.

The assistance contains basic needs such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, snacks and other needs such as prayer equipment for men and women with a value of Rp. 550,000 per package.

It is planned that if there are no obstacles, assistance will be brought to the Mentawai Islands Regency on May 25, 2019 through the Mentawai Ramadhan Ship program.

"If possible, 2,000 packages will be carried out in one departure and if there are no obstacles, such as weather or administrative related matters," he said.

Assistance will be distributed to residents on Siberut, Sipora and Sikakap islands.

He invited the community to take part in the Mentawai Ramadhan Ship which delivered a smile of concern for residents in the area through donations to the account of Bank Mandiri 127 00 77 21242 on behalf of Aksi Cepat Tanggap or 127 00 77 89512 on behalf of the Global Zakat Foundation.

During Ramadhan ACT implements a program that provides food and clothing package assistance for people in border areas or on the edge of the country.

As many as 500,000 Indonesians are targeted to be beneficiaries of the assistance with the value of each food and clothing package of IDR 550,000.

Several locations in the remote areas were targeted, namely in the Kepulauan Riau, Mentawai, Nias, North Kalimantan, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara to Papua. (*)
