Tourist Visits in Padang is Still High on Two Weeks after Eid: Official

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Almost two weeks after Eid 1439 Hijriah, the visit to Air Manis Beach, Padang Municipality, West Sumatra is still high at 2,000 per day, Head of Padang Tourism and Culture Medi Iswandi stated.

"The amount is 10 times more than usual days especially during the weekdays of about 200 tourists," he said here on Thursday.

It noted about 350,000 tourists who are visiting tourist attractions in the area during Eid holidays on June 16 to 24, 2018.

He explained that there are almost all tourist attractions in Padang that are crowded with tourists during Eid holidays such as Kota Tua, Padang Beach, Air Manis Beach and other small islands.

"Tourists from outside the province are dominated from Jambi, Pekanbaru and Jakarta," he pointed out.

He mentioned the regional revenue especially on Air Manis Beach from 16 to 24 of June reached Rp330 million, but the velocity of money on location is quite large.

For example, he said, the lease of motor all terrain vehicle (ATV) in the area is quite high. The total ATV actually reached 500 units with hourly rental of Rp100,000.

Besides, according to him, the most important impact of increasing tourist visits to Padang is directly proportional to economic movement of society.

It does not only rent ATV, but the culinary field, hotels and other services also must increase.

He hoped that the public will help the government in providing comfort to tourists.

"If tourists are comfortable, then they will potentially come back here again and indirectly it will also promote tourism sector of the area. (cha)
