7,695 Travelers Arrive at BIM until D-7 of Eid

Padang Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - A total of 7,695 travelers who are using airplanes arrive at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) in Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra until D-7 or June 8, 2018.

"The number has increased 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2017 when the arrival of travelers only reached 5,912 people," Public Relations of PT Angkasa Pura II BIM Fendrick Sondra stated in here on Saturday.

He mentioned the arrival of 7,695 travelers were transported by 41 flights.

In contrast, the number of passengers who are departing from Padang to Jakarta until D-7 reached 4,856 people.

He said that passenger movement at BIM in Eid this year is estimated to increase by 12 to 20 percent while the movement of aircraft is around five to 10 percent.

For aircraft, there are about 864 movements and passengers about 152 thousand people ranging from D-7 to D+7, he said.

To the passengers who will be going home, he appealed to always pay attention to the flight schedule and do not carry too much stuff.

It is expected that passengers do not joke about the bomb because according to the Act, it can be criminalized and harming others, he reminded.

Meanwhile, there are five airlines that filed additional flights for Jakarta-Padang route in anticipating the increasing number of passengers on Eid 1439 Hijriah.

"Until now, there are five airlines that have proposed additional flights namely Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air, Citilink and Batik Air," he pointed out.

He mentioned Lion Air prepares four additional flights per day from June 1 to June 30, 2018 or a total of 120 flights.

Then, Batik Air prepares three flights per day from June 1 to June 30 with an overall total of 90 extra flights.

Then Sriwijaya Air provides four additional flights every day from June 1 to June 30 with a total of 120 flights.

Next, Citilink provides one additional flight per day from June 8 to June 24 with a total of 17 flights.

Furthermore Garuda Indonesia provides one flight per day on June 11 to June 14, three flights on June 21 and one flight on June 22 to June 24, 2018 for a total of 10 flights.

Fendrick noted the total number of additional flights are 357 flights. (cha)
