Padang Pariaman Anticipates Meat, Egg Rising Prices

Parit Malintang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra anticipates the rising prices of meat and eggs by continuing operations of animal market in a number of traditional markets in the area.

"The operation of animal market is an activity of provincial government that is carried out in the region," Head of Department of Husbandary and Animal Health of Padang Pariaman District, Bustanil Arifin stated in here on Friday.

He said the traditional market chosen as the location of animal market opertion is the one that the prices of staple goods specially meat and eggs are predicted to rise.

"Another indicator related to the market location which is far from the main market location in the area so that if there is an increase in price then people will have difficulty in going to the main market," he explained.

According to him, there are three traditional market in Sungai Geringging that entered into the indicator namely in Batu Bangko, Durian Anjung and Bukik Laban.

For Batu Bangko Market, it has been held on last Wednesday, while today it is held in Durian Ajuang Market, he said.

"Operations in both markets only provide chicken and eggs, while for beef and buffalo will be held at Bukik Laban Market when entering D-2 Eid.

The discount on the market operation is Rp5,000 per shelf for eggs, Rp7,500 per chicken and Rp15,000 per kilogram for beef. (cha)
