BI Noted Money Exchanging in W Sumatra Ahead of Eid Reached Rp1.9 Trillion

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Bank Indonesia representative of West Sumatra recorded the exchange of small denomination money for the needs of Eid until the third week of Ramadhan 1439 Hijriah has reached Rp1.9 trillion.

"The amount includes the withdrawal of banking, redemption in the office yard of West Sumatra Bank and all cash activities of West Sumatra Bank from May 21 to June 4, 2018," Head of Bank Indonesia representative of West Sumatra Endy Dwi Tjahjono stated in here on Tuesday.

He mentioned BI representative of West Sumatra prepares new money worth to Rp3.8 trillion in order to fulfill the needs of community in welcoming Eid.

"New money demand in West Sumatra continues to rise every Eid. For this year, we prepare Rp3.8 trillion or an increase of 11 percent compared to 2017 which only Rp3.4 trillion," he noted.

In this year, people who want to exchange money are served at the counter which is prepared in the office of West Sumatra in Sudirman Street Padang, from May 21 to June 7, 2018, every Monday to Thursday at 08.30 a.m. until 01.00 p.m..

"The exchange service is special for small denomination from Rp20 thousand, while for money damaged, shabby and temporary defects are eliminated," he said.

In serving the exchange, BI is in cooperation with Bank Nagari, BRI, BNI, Mandiri, and BCA by providing such booth of each bank in BI.

BI West Sumatra also provides outback services for Bukittinggi and Payakumbuh on June 2, 2018 at 08.30 a.m. until 01.00 p.m., Pariaman and Solok Municipality on June 9, 2018 from 08.30 a.m. until 01.00 p.m., he said.

For more effective redemption services, BI has appealed to banks to participate in the exchange of services to general public, both bank customers and non-patients.

In addition, BI urges the entire community to do not redeem money through private services at the roadside because of usuitable amounts risk and the indication of counterfeit money. (cha)
