Padang Strengthens Promotion of Smart City Application

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra Province, has strengthened the dissemination of information on the application of smart city in the community through focus group discussion.

"This promotion is part of the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed on the 100 Smart City movement with the central government," Temporary Official of Padang Mayor Alwis stated.

According to Alwis, the focus group discussion activity or seminar will be the center of activities to promote the smart city application in Padang, as it can involve all parties.

In addition, the promotion is conducted to introduce systems and programs based on the network to support the application of smart city.

Furthermore, the discussion aims to seek ideas and inputs of all parties related to the application of the smart city.

Alwis cited that the focus group discussion focuses on disaster mitigation involving several experts, entrepreneurs, agencies, and community social groups, to assist in the creation of new innovations and for program development.

Once the implementation of smart city is attempted from next year, all districts will have access to the network.

He explained that so far, apart from conducting promotion, it has also sought to strengthen access to the network in some areas.

The fiber network has been installed in the Organization of the Region Office, and next year, it will be installed in all districts.

Some 22 applications are integrated directly with the government to support the acceleration of services utilizing advanced information technology.

He remarked that the people should first have an understanding of smart city and then developing innovations or system to facilitate the program.

"That is why promotion that is optimal and comprehensive in all sectors must be targeted," he emphasized. (*)
