Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The government of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra, allocated a budget of Rp5.8 billion for the development of Tangah Island tourism in 2018, Head of local Public Works and Housing (PUPR), Zamzamil stated.

"The fund is divided into two sources, namely Rp3 billion from Pariaman Regional Budget and Rp2.8 billion of fund sharing from West Sumatra Provincial Budget," he said in Pariaman, Wednesday.

He said the local government is currently conducting a tender for physical work in 2018.

The Rp5.8 billion fund will be focused on the construction of several supporting infrastructures, including the construction of rest areas, places of worship, rinse houses, and landscapes.

"Related to the area that will be built, related offices have not been able to ascertain because it was only known during the physical work," he said.

Then, specifically the budget of the provincial sharing fund can not be ascertained for any development.

This is because there is no assistance between the government of Pariaman and Provincial Tourism Office of West Sumatra.

"If there is coordination and assistance with provincial government, then it could be entirely focused on landscape development," he remarked.

Mayor of Pariaman, Mukhlis Rahman said supporting facilities and infrastructure have not been completed and need acceleration of development to immediately impact on the economic and tourism side of the region.

He explained local government has not given permission to the community to visit Tangah Island because it is still in the stage of infrastructure development.

"Later, if the development has been completed. it will be opened to the public, so that people and tourists can enjoy it," he added. (cha)
