W Sumatra is Ready To Welcome Guests of National, International Events: Governor

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said that the provincial government is ready to welcome all parties who will carry out events and activities of national or international scale in the region as one of the efforts to introduce the potential of regional tourism.

"To host a variety of national events, it will bring the impact of increasing tourist visits to Ranah Minang, West Sumatra Provincial Government will be happy to receive guests from all over Indonesia for seminars, conventions and other activities," he said in Padang on Monday.

He added that it relates to an effort to increase tourist visits to the area which is targeted to reach 8.2 million by 2018.

West Sumatra has a number of hotels with very adequate rooms in terms of quantity and quality. In addition there is also a meeting room that can accommodate a thousand more participants so that all national events can be held in the area.

Besides, there are many tourist destinations in the city and culinary center that invites the taste which can be visited on the sidelines of the break.

Potential is considered to be an advantage of West Sumatra until the last few years of national activities such as the National Congress (Munas), national conferences and seminars increasingly held in the province.

Moreover, every guest at the national event that comes always honored with a dinner by the governor and related officials at the Governor's Palace.

"Every guest who come will be invites to come to enjoy the beauty of nature, cultural destinations and culinary delights of Minang," Irwan remarked.

He is optimistic that the experience will be memorable for visitors and it helps the promotion of West Sumatra on his network.

Head of Tourism Office of West Sumatra, Oni Yulfian said the number of tourist arrivals to the area in 2018 is targeted at 8.2 million people.

In addition to 2019, the Ministry of Tourism provides a target of 100,000 foreign tourists visit West Sumatra, while it targets 8.5 million domestic tourists. (cha)
