South Solok Tourist Visits Increased Over Last Three Years

Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The number of tourists visits in South Solok District, West Sumatra have been increased over the last three years, Head of Promotion Division of Tourism and Cultural Office, Yolni Hendra stated in Padang Aro, Wednesday.

He pointed out that there was 27,500 tourists visits in 2015, then it rose quite high in 2016 which reached 31,193 people, and 2017 rose to 31,792 tourists.

"We are continuously trying to increase the number of tourist visits to South Solok every year with various promotions," he said.

For the highest number of foreign tourists visiting was in 2015 as many as 21,123 people, in 2016 dropped drastically to 105 foreign tourists, and 2017 only 180 people.

He mentioned, this year his side prepares brochures and pamphlets for the promotion of superior tourist destinations of South Solok in order to attract tourists.

In addition, it has established cooperation with the Grand Inna Hotel and install large billboards around the airport area.

With this effort, it is expected that tourist visit can increase every year.

The local government has not been able to target tourist arrivals for 2018 because the leading destination of Thousand of Gadang Houses Area (Kawasan Saribu Rumah Gadang) has not been revitalized.

"If the revitalization has been completed, we can only set the target of the visit," he remarked. (cha)
