Agam Has 143 Tourism Objects

Lubukbasung, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Office of Sports, Youth and Tourism of Agam District, West Sumatra recorded the number of tourism objects in the area reached 143 places which spread across 16 sub-districts.

"The tourism objects consist of nature, religion and cultural tourism," Head of Sports, Youth and Tourism of Agam, Jetson stated in Lubukbasung, on Saturday.

The tourist attraction is mostly managed by community, only three of them are managed by the government.

The tourist attractions which are managed by local government are Bandar Mutiara in Tanjungmutiara Sub-district, Muko-muko Tourism Object in Tanjungraya Sub-district and Ambun Tanai Tourism Object in Matur Sub-district.

To develop the tourist destinations, it established a group of Conscious Tourism (Pokdarwis) in the tourist attraction.

But the existence of the tourist attraction must be supported by facilities, infrastructure, road facilities and bridges.

"The tourism object can not be separated from facilities, infrastructure, road and bridge facilities in attracting visits, but it needs support from other regional apparatus organizations," he explained.

If the supporting facilities in 143 tourist objects is complete, then the number of tourist visits will increase to the area.

In 2018, Agam targeted 746,000 tourists, consisting of 546,000 local tourists and 200,000 foreign tourists.

In 2017 the number of tourist visits reached 653,108 people, with 633,353 local tourists and foreign tourists of 19,755 people.

In 2016, tourist visits only 519,232 people, with 487,213 local tourists and 32,019 foreign tourists. (cha)
