Payakumbuh Seeks Entrepreneurship Training To Overcome Poverty Rate

Payakumbuh, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Payakumbuh, West Sumatra seeks entrepreneurship training programs in the area which focused on poor communities to improve their lives so that the poverty rate continues to decline.

"We are joining in entrepreneurship training that directly target the market needs," Payakumbuh Mayor Riza Falepi stated in Payakumbuh on Thursday.

In addition, other programs are also prepared to provide good education opportunities for the underprivileged, social assistance programs such as home surgery and business assistance.

Then it is also improving the service system for underprivileged people from data collection, the types of services and programs that are suitable for their needs.

The percentage and number of poor people in Payakumbuh continue to decrease since the first period of Riza Falepi administration.

The beginning of the first period of poverty in that region is 7.81 percent or 9.7 thousand.

Currently, at the beginning of the second period of government, the percentage of poverty is reduced to 5.88 percent or 7.72 thousand inhabitants.

There has been a decline in the number of poor people by 1.98 thousand in the last five years.

"We hope the number of poor people in Payakumbuh can be decreased," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Head of Payakumbuh BPS, Yon Andri mention poverty measurement using the concept of ability to fulfill the basic needs. (cha)
