100 Storytellers Participated on Padang Panjang Storytelling Festival

Padang Panjang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - One hundred storytellers from various regions and professional backgrounds participated on the activities of the 24 Hours Storytelling Festival in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, on Saturday.

Official of the event, Niki Martoyo in Padang Panjang, said that the event aims to commemorate the World Storytelling Day that fell on March 20.

The festival is held in Gang Aster of Literary Village, Bukit Surungan Village followed by children and parents and teachers who came from West Java, Riau, and North Sumatra.

Besides, participants from West Sumatra, among them came from West Pasaman, Bukittinggi, and Payakumbuh.

Those involved are creative storytellers who care about the development of the world of children.

"There are lecturers, teachers, students, and activists in the arts community who will tell stories in a relay and last till night," he remarked.

Din Saadudin, a lecturer from ISI of Padang Panjang said that storytelling in children gives its own satisfaction especially when the children show cheerful response while they are invitting to interact.

He expected the festival can grow the habit of storytelling by parents to their children because from the activity, they can form the character of children and hone the ability to communicate. (cha)
