Kadin Suggests W Sumatra To Form Export Enhancement Team

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of West Sumatra suggests the province to form export enhancement team that consist of such functionary to make the special study, so that the regional export will continue to grow.

"I believe one of the efforts to increase West Sumatra economy is increasing export. Therefore, it must make special team to handle it," Head of West Sumatra Kadin, Ramal Saleh said in Padang on Friday.

According to him, that team consist of government and businessment to make the big concept of West Sumatra export for four to five years ahead.

"If today West Sumatra export is still in US$1.9 billion, for five years ahead, it will increase to be US$5 billion," he pointed out.

To realize that target, the team build up the synergy and communication to all functionary which related with export.

Nowadays, West Sumatra main commonity is rubber and palm oil, even though there are other commodities such as gambier, areca nut, and cinnamon, he explained.

Beside that, he hopes West Sumatra export does not only in form of cinnamon, but also processed to be the product so that its value is higher.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia representative of West Sumatra assesses it needs all parties synergy for West Sumatra exporting, moreover the world economy growth is increasing and the price of some strategic commodity is getting better.

"This is a good momentum to increase the export. It was only US$1.9 in 2017 and it dominated by palm oil and rubber, head of Bank Indonesia representative of West Sumatra, Endy Dwi Tjahjono said.

According to him, West Sumatra export still vulnerable because it depends only on two commodities those are palm oil and rubber, then it needs verification.

He added the palm also needs such replanting because it has been old so that the production is down. (cha)
