Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of South Solok District, West Sumatra makes a serious effort to re-establish the physical culture of the region by preserving the traditions, cultural arts, and repairing the damaged of Minangkabau traditional houses, Rumah Gadang, official said.
The effort of South Solok government in making effort to preserve local culture has been responded by President Joko Widodo at the peak of National Press Day on February 9, 2018 in Padang Municipality.
The President immediately launched the revitalization of Thousand of Gadang Houses Area (Kawasan Saribu Rumah Gadang) to be better, arranged nicely and become a real tourism destination.
The effort in preserving cultural tourism including Thousand of Gadang Houses area aims to make the area be the main tourism in West Sumatra, besides Bukittinggi so that it can improve the economy of community.
Meanwhile, Vice Regent of South Solok Abdul Rahman added, the tourism district's strength is indeed on cultural tourism, so that it is highlighted.
"We have a wealth of culture and it will be packed in the tourism calendar so as to increase tourist visits," he added. (cha)
