Pariaman To Plant 604 Hectares of Upland Rice, Corn

Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra is seeking to plant 604 hectares of upland rice and corn which is targeted to complete in November 2018. "In 2018, Pariaman is given a target by central government to plant 399 hectares of upland rice or paddy fields and 205 hectares of corn crops," Agusriatman, Head of Agricultural Service of Pariaman, stated in Pariaman, on Tuesday. He said that to achieve the target, Agricultural Service has conducted data collection of prospective farmers, and prospective locations in four existing sub-districts. From the results of initial data collection, it obtained by corn as much as 165 hectares and 121 hectares of rice fields which are dominant in North Pariaman, South Pariaman and East Pariaman Sub-districts. Especially for corn, he said, the planting process has been done since early February 2018 and spread across four sub-districts in the city. While the upland rice plant is expected to be planted in early March 2018. For upland rice, the planting can be done by intercropping with other types of plants. Then the way of planting also requires special handling, he said. In addition, the central government through related ministry provides fertilizer and seed assistance during planting.
