Gov't Allocates Rp7 Billion for Irrigation Rehabilitation

Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Central Government through Specific Allocation Fund (DAK) provides Rp7 billions for conducting irrigation rehabilitation at South Pesisir District, West Sumatra in 2018. "The budget is use for rehabilitation of nine irrigation areas, we hope it can drain water maximally to rice fields area," The Secretary of Manajemen Office of Water Resources, Jarizal said in Painan, Tuesday. The irrigation area that will be repaired are Lubuk Nyiur in Batang Kapas Sub-district, Talang Ketaping and Sungai Pinang in Basa IV Balai Tapan Sub-district, Lahan Mudiek in Linggo Sari Baganti Sub-district. Furthermore, Aia Tajun in Ranah Pesisir Sub-dsitrict, Bukik Kaciak in Lengayang Sub-district, Taruko and Taratak Tambulun in Sutera Sub-district and Lubuk Agus in Lengayang Sub-district. Beside rely the DAK, local area also budgeted funds through the Regional Government Budget (APBD) as much as Rp700 million for small repaired of irrigation area. "There are 294 irrigation areas that are targeted of this activity and it can drain water into 19,965 rice fields in local area," he added. But, each irrigation only can drain water to less than 1,000 hectares of rice fields. Beside that, if there are more than 1,000 to 3,000, it will be the responsibility of province and more than that will become the responsibility of central government. (cha/pi)
