Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Vice Governor of West Sumatra Nasrul Abit said that the arts owned by Chinese ethnic in Padang Municipality need to be conserved because it supports the government's efforts in developing tourism sector. "We as the government are encouraging and developing the culture that exists today. We will ask West Sumatra Cultural Office to coordinate to preserve Chinese cultures," he said in Padang, on Wednesday night. He hopes that the diversity in the area will keep the united people together and avoid all forms of action that can cause division. "Diversity does not make us divisive but it strengthens us to keep unity," he stated. According to him, there is the See Hin Kyong Temple and the old buildings that strongly support heritage area in Kampung Pondok. "We will try to make the location into a cultural heritage area even though it needs a process," he added. (cha)
