Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Singapore has imported more than 1.3 tons of angoli fish in January 2018 from Kupang, a Head of Kupang Fish Quarantine, Quality Control Station (KIPM), Edi Santoso said. "The fresh angoli commodity has been exported for six times to Singapore by airplanes," he said here on Sunday. The export value of fresh angoli to Singapore which was recorded in early 2018 stood at US$ 1,442. He said East Nusa Tenggara also had some other seafood export commodities, including fresh mackerel and fresh snapper. However it is still in small quantity compared to angoli fish. In transporting its export commodities to the targeted countries, the province's exporters mostly rely on cargo vessels while Singapore is frequently served by airplanes. Edi further said angoli fish is one of the most favorite fish commodities of Singapore because of the higher demands in every year. According to KIPM, the export commodities of fresh angoli and frozen snapper to Singapore reached 37.2 tons with a total value US$ 194,444. Besides, other commodities such as fresh mackerel and tuna loin were exported for 115 times. "Total exports of the commodities have increased more than 24.3 tons. They were angoli fish or snapper in 2016," he said. Kupang has some other seafood export commodities in 2018, including fresh angoli, fresh mackerel, skipjack tuna, frozen skipjack tuna, and dry fish, he said. Brunei Darusalam, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Timor Leste are among the province's main destinations of seafood products, besides Singapore. The province's exporters mostly rely on cargo vessels by making the East Java city of Surabaya be their transit seaport. However, Timor Leste, which shares land border with the province, can be reached by trucks. "We recorded that East Nusa Tenggara's export value was US$ 426,707 in the early 2018,", he said.
