Jakarta Governor Congratulates Persija for Winning President Cup

Jakarta, (Antaranews Sumbar)- Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan congratulated Jakarta's soccer team Persija for coming out as the champion of the 2018 President Cup preseason tournament after crushing Bali United 3-0, here on Saturday evening. "Tonight, "PresidentCup2018 is completed. Thank you President Joko Widodo for this big event, and also the organizing committee for this smooth competition. We also thank Bali United for the exciting final match," Baswedan wrote on his Facebook page. The Governor thanked Persija Jakarta in particular for achieving the victory that has made its fans, Jakmania, and all of Jakartans proud and happy. The final match of the 2018 President Cup held at Bung Karno sports stadium, was watched by President Joko Widodo and several other high ranking officials seating in the stadium's VIP tribune. Among the top officials were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, Social Affairs Minister Idrus Marhan, National Defense Forces Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Oesman Sapta Odang, Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nurwahid, and member of the President's Advisory Board Agum Gumelar. Governor Baswedan, his two sons and some 68 thousand spectators watched the match in regular section of the stadium. Two goals for Persija were scored by striker, Marco Simic in the 20th and 45+2 minute, and another one was netted by Novri Setiawan in 63rd minute. Persija as champion of the President Cup, was awarded Rp3.3 billion, meanwhile Bali United as the runner-up received Rp2.2 billion. As many as 20 teams divided into five groups participated in the 2018 President Cup, which was held from January 16 to February 17, 2018. (*) Editor: Vicha Faradika
