Padang Aro, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of South Solok District, West Sumatra encourages organic farmers in Simancuang to develop rice salibu or rice cropping pattern system of second generation, because the spacing is long enough that three times in two years.

"Organic rice group of Simancuang planted every seven months after harvest and the distance is long enough, so we encourage them to develop rice pattern of salibu so that rice fields still produce while waiting for the next processing," Head of South Solok Agriculture Tri Handoyo Gunardi stated in Padang Aro, Wednesday.

Organic rice fields in Simancuang, Nagari Alam Pauah Duo, Pauh Duo Sub-district are 20 hectares, and now has a second planting period.

For the first planting of organic crop yields in Simancuang is quite high, it is reaching 4.8 tons per hectare.

He said the development of rice is not too difficult, because farmers at harvest leaves enough tubers from five to 20 centimeters long.

After that, the fields are given organic fertilizer, so the rice field does not need to be processed again but it is enough to wait for new shoots to grow from harvested rice tubers.

While the straw after the harvest can be collected at the edge of rice fields and then spread again into the fields and become a natural fertilizer, he added. (cha)
