Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - First Class Immigration Office of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra, increased its passport service quota from 80 to 200 per day due to the high number of applicants.

"The quota is supplemented by the Directorate General of Immigration, Law and Human Rights Ministry. The addition will certainly impact on the number of passport issuance," Head of the Immigration Office of Class I Padang Elvi Sahlan stated in Padang on Thursday.

It is committed and ready to work as much as possible in the utilization of the quota increase so that people who take care of passport can be more comfortable and well served.

With the addition of service quotas, Elvi said it can also minimize the buildup and public disappointment when handling passports.

Especially when it has been put in line in the net so that people no longer need to jostle when waiting in line.

In general, West Sumatra people take care of passports for umroh to the holy land of Mecca and visit neighboring countries.

He mentioned that until November 2017, Immigration Class I Padang has issued 27,390 passports or down compared to 2016 which reached 31,591 passports.

It also tightened the handling of passports as a government effort to prevent the increasingly widespread problems of migrant workers abroad.

Therefore it is more thorough in conducting interviews on the applicant passport, especially productive age between 25 to 35 years, he added. (cha)
